About the ChoirThe Manchester Bach Choir was founded by its first conductor, Mr Hamilton Harris, in 1932. He was a well known bass singer in his day and the choir was originally composed entirely of his own pupils. Over the past 75 years the choir has had several relocations in and around the Manchester area and is now, despite its name, based in Stockport. It has its home at St Mary's Church, the oldest parish church in Stockport, and the Rector of St Mary's, Rev. Roger Scoones, is the choir's President. The choir currently numbers around thirty singers and performs a wide variety of music. We aim for a high standard and have a friendly but hardworking atmosphere. We usually perform four seasonal concerts with a varied programme throughout the year. |
