Welcome to our web-site

The Manchester Bach Choir was founded in 1932 and has been based in different parts of south Manchester since then. It now has its home at St.Mary's church in Stockport, the church in the market-place, and the Rector of St.Mary's, Rev.Roger Scoones, is the choir's President.

For its 75th season the choir is performing two major works – the St.John Passion by Bach on Sunday April 1st  and Handel’s Messiah on Sunday December 2nd. Both concerts will be at St.Mary’s.

The St.John Passion was a "wonderful and exciting start to Holy Week" and the choir wishes to thank Philip Mackenzie, Principal Conductor of the Amadeus Orchestra, for taking over the baton at the last minute.

The Choir is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Collin as our new Musical Director from 1 February, 2008 - see 'Our Conductor' page for more details.
